Right About 2025?

If 2025 taught us anything, it’s that we’re absolutely hopeless at staying in one place. We kicked the year off in Thailand, easing back into life with the usual mix of street food, wandering, and wondering how many iced coffees a human can drink before vibrating. Northern Thailand gave us its best — cool mornings, warm smiles, and that easy rhythm that always makes it hard to leave.

Eventually, though, Australia called us home. So back we came, swapping temples for gum trees, scooters for the 4WD, and mango sticky rice for… well, whatever we could find in the fridge. It didn’t take long before the itch returned — that familiar “should we go somewhere?” look we give each other over morning tea.

Winter rolled in, and with it came the perfect excuse: a Pilbara getaway. Red dirt, big skies, long roads, and the kind of silence that makes you forget what day it is. We wandered through gorges, camped under cold stars, and remembered exactly why we love the outback. The Pilbara never disappoints — it just quietly gets under your skin and stays there.

But the year wasn’t done with us yet.

Come November, we packed the bags again and pointed ourselves straight back to Thailand. This time it was all about festivals and races — colour, noise, crowds, late nights, early mornings, and that wild, joyful chaos Thailand does better than anywhere else. One minute we were watching lanterns drift into the sky, the next we were cheering at races with half the town. It was everything we love about travel rolled into one big, bright, noisy finale.

So that was 2025: a year split between two homes, two climates, and two very different kinds of adventure. From Pilbara dust to Thai neon, from quiet campsites to festival streets, it was a year that kept us moving, laughing, exploring, and collecting stories we’ll be telling for a long time.

And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
